EUseless: A view from the mad house

UKIP MEP LOUISE BOURS REBRANDS EU AS “EUSELESS” IN NEW BOOKLET

Examples of “hot air” politics and useless committees in the European Parliament have been laid bare in a new booklet by Louise Bours MEP.

As polls show a majority of British people wantEUSeless to leave the European Union, Ms Bours, who represents the North West region, has now made her EUseless: A view from the mad house publication available as a free download.

In it, the Ukip health spokesman highlights the activities of the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) and the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM).

Ms Bours, a member of the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy in the European Parliament, said: “All politicians are accused of spouting hot air, but in the parliament in Brussels it’s like a furnace.

“While not every conversation that takes place there is entirely without merit, very often it invokes Nero fiddling while Rome burns.

“Too often the parliamentary committees find themselves bogged down in needless debate about issues the EU has no control over, need not have control over, and more importantly should never have control over.

“My booklet looks at just a few examples of this time-wasting and empty rhetoric, and I’m making it available for free download so as many people as possible can read it.”

EU gender quota ideas slammed

The EU should stop wasting time trying to define what a woman is and do more to tackle more serious gender issues like female genital mutilation – says UKIP Health Spokesman Louise Bours MEP.
In a speech at the European Parliament, the MEP accused the commission of trying to force their view of what a woman is on the wider public and organisations within member states, by introducing boardroom gender quotas and sanctioning companies that don’t comply with their required gender balance.
The speech was part of a debate on bringing in new gender regulations for companies across the EU.
She said: “You want to conduct a study on the situations of working mothers; mothers who choose to stay at home, and women without children who have made a choice to work – why? To find out how each affects the labour market.
“You call for the introduction of sanctions, at EU level, that would exclude companies from procurement of goods and services financed with public subsidies.
“So are you saying you want the EU to block companies from using public goods, services and money if there isn´t an appropriate gender balance?”
Some regulations in the new proposals would reverse the burden of proof from employee to employer – forcing the accused to prove that they are innocent.
Ms Bours added: “Are you aware that this would require a complete alteration of the UK´s legal system? We´ll just throw the concept of innocent until proven guilty in the rubbish bin shall we?
“Do something useful, tackle forced marriage or FGM – speak out about the abuses of women in countries around the world, just stop wasting our time.”
After the debate, Ms Bours added: “As always, these people are more interested in gender quota´s and balances than tackling real world examples of abuses against women and girls. The do not have the courage to tackle the real issues women and girls face – FGM, forced marriage, rape – these seem to fall by the wayside, forgotten in the politically correct haze of multiculturalism”.

Transcript: “Thank you. The issue of forced marriage does not just affect children living on the African and Asian continents, it is happening across Europe, and the silence surrounding it has many parallels with the exploitation and trafficking of young girls, across many towns in Northern England.

UK law imposes a maximum sentence of 7 years on the perpetrators of this crime – and it is simply not a strong enough deterrent. Girls are afraid to speak out, others dismiss it as a cultural practice, and our social services in England, the police, the politicians dare not speak up for fear of being labelled racist.

With our open borders, human traffickers have free reign to exploit children – in 2013, over 600 children were trafficked into Britain for exploitation and forced marriage. This modern day form of slavery is on the rise – and the EU have given the perpetrators a helping hand – by not allowing member states to control their own borders and check criminal backgrounds, the EU is enabling this crime to escalate – the UK can at least check an individual’s passport – mainland Europe is prevented from even doing that.

Criminal trafficking gangs operate with impunity due to EU free movement rules – so whilst members are very good at voicing their outrage at these crimes, they are fundamentally unable to implement anything practical to stop it.”
